The Kentucky Guard Motorcycle Riders Boone Center Chapter Who are we? We are part of the Kentucky National Guards Motorcycle Mentorship Program. We are Guardsmen from across the various Commands within the Kentucky Army National Guard. We are family members, Technicians, Federal and State Employees and Retirees, in short we are you!
The KGMR shares a motorcycling passion that continues to grow and expand and by providing a safe and enjoyable atmosphere. Our aim is to accomplish the common goal of keeping all of our Kentucky Guard’s motorcycling family safe. What do we offer? We offer mentoring for new riders, continuing education, for seasoned riders and comradeship for all riders! The goal is to improve skill levels for all KGMR members in a fun relaxed environment.
This is accomplished thru planned fun and challenging rides for both the experienced and non experienced riders. Our “new rider” trips puts an emphasis on one on one mentoring for newly licensed and low experienced riders. This helps the new rider gain experience and confidence in a variety of road and riding conditions, it allows the “new rider” to see what the “right looks like” and provides the foundation for building safe riding habits. This of course does not leave our more seasoned riders out, we always plan something for those members as well, with us all ending up in the same place. Come join us, have some fun, meet new people to ride with. Regardless of your experience everybody has something valuable to contribute. Help us make a difference in protecting all members of the Kentucky National Guard that enjoy the exciting activity of motorcycling. Where are we? The Boone Center Chapter of the KGMR is formed from individuals within the general geographic area of Boone National Guard Center.
Currently the Boone Center Chapter is the first Chapter of the KGMR with other chapters eventually spreading out across the state. When do we meet? The Boone Center Chapter meets once a month at 6:30 pm on the second Tuesday of each month at the Office Pub and Deli in Frankfort. The Office Pub and Deli offers wide variety of great food. Members usually end up ordering dinner and having a great time enjoying the company of others that share the common passion for motorcycling.
The Boone Center Chapter was formed in July of 2007 and with a blazing start offered great weather for 3 sponsored rides. The Halls on the river ride focused on those new riders that had little or no group riding experience and turned out to be a huge success. The scenery and mentorship was invaluable and was a testimony to the need for such a program. The General Butler State Park ride gave us the most breathtaking views of Kentucky back roads and was a challenge to even the most experienced of riders. The Covered Bridges of Kentucky was a 2 day tour of the 13 historical covered bridges still standing in Kentucky and provided both the experienced and new riders with an extremely memorable ride! What does it cost? It’s not expensive, but we do need some limited funds to take care of occasional expenses. Membership dues for the Boone Center Chapter are minimal at only $24.00 annually, this works out to be just $2.00 a month.
The KGMR has received approval to paint our own MSF Range on Boone Center which will help fulfill our eventual goal of being self sufficient in training, rider qualification and certification. This will be accomplished by having our own MSF qualified “Rider Coaches” and will allow us to offer the “Basic Riders Course” and “Experienced Riders Course”. And of course many more challenging and fun group rides will be organized and scheduled.
